As the Civil War begins brewing in the East, a smaller , even more vicious conflict is flaring up in the West. Bands of Apache warriors, knowing their days are numbered, have decided to die fighting and to take with them as many of their hated enemies as they can.
Kiannatah, a member of Geronimo's band, once saw his entire family slaughtered by inavder. Without fear of death, he leads his tribe on the path of vengeance.
Lt. Joshua Barlow, sent west by his father in the hope that he'd be safer there, has turned this war into a personal battle. And he's willing to defy the whole U.S. Army to fight the Apaches his own way.

The first in the Apache Wars trilogy which includes Apache Shadow and Apache Strike. I was writing about one of my very favorite subjects, the Apache Indians, and had a good story arc -- the stories of Barlow and Kiannatah and how love and revenge shaped them both. Signet provided more great art work and cover text. I believe the trilogy is pretty good and has parts that are VERY good. But I also think I could have made them even better.
